Susquehanna River Cleanup Project announces 8th Annual Spring Cleanup

Here’s how you can help one of our partner organizations.

Those interested in participating in a cleanup event in the Sunbury area are encouraged to mark your calendars for Susquehanna River Cleanup Project’s 8th Annual Spring Cleanup, slated for Saturday, April 27!

High water and flooding have resulted in large amounts of garbage making its way down river, event organizers report. This is the perfect opportunity to get involved and make a difference.

Be sure to pre-register to receive a reusable tote bag, lunch and updates on cleanup details!

The Susquehanna River Cleanup Project (SRCP) will supply gloves, garbage bags, water bottles, and more. The suggested attire includes long pants and shirts, eye protection, and a hat. Use of sunscreen and bug spray is recommended.

SRCP has announced that Derrek Reitz is now serving as the SRCP Coordinator and committee chairman. Volunteers who are interested in joining the committee are encouraged to attend their next meeting: Monday, April 8 at 6 p.m. at 353 Market St., Sunbury.

The Susquehanna River Cleanup Project is a nonprofit organization focusing on clearing debris from the Central Susquehanna River Valley. For more information about the SRCP, visit
