The forest beautification event planned to take place in Piatt Township, Lycoming County, this coming Saturday, October 6, 2018, has been postponed to November.
The rainy weather forecast has led to concerns about volunteer safety at the site, which features steep embankments, explained Project Director Elisabeth Lynch McCoy.
Details about the new date will be announced following the CleanScapes Board of Directors meeting on Thursday, October 18. (The public is welcome at the meeting; details here.)
ABOUT THE PIATT TOWNSHIP SITE
The goal for this clean-up is to remove 75+ tires and bag 2 tons of litter from the forested hillside adjacent to Stewart Run Creek.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Volunteers can participate as land support by collecting trash and tires or by helping to load the dumpsters. Volunteers are also invited to take short videos or photos of the volunteers in action to submit to CleanScapes later.
