CleanScapes was honored to receive a $500 check donation from the Loggia Giosue Carducci Lodge No. 146 Sons and Daughters of Italy in late February.
CleanScapes board member Les Kleckner, notably a founding member of the organization, and CleanScapes Project Director Elisabeth Lynch McCoy attended a check presentation at the Lodge on Tuesday, February 26, 2019. Kleckner noted that the funds would be used to support illegal dumpsite clean-up events organized by CleanScapes in Clinton County, and he thanked the Sons and Daughters of Italy board for supporting CleanScapes’ efforts through this financial contribution.
This isn’t the first time the organization has recognized the work of CleanScapes through a monetary donation. Since 2005, the Sons and Daughters of Italy lodge has gifted a total of $1,425 towards CleanScapes’ activities.
During the check presentation event in late February, the Sons gifted more than $81,000 to roughly 50 organizations from around Clinton County. The funds are generated by games of chance at the lodge, and Pennsylvania law requires 60 percent of the proceeds be given away annually.
