May 18-19 Tire Collection free for Clinton County residents

Do you have old tires you need to get rid of?

If you live in Clinton County, a two-day event coming up in May will allow you to dispose of your tires for free.

The Clinton County Solid Waste Authority (CCSWA) will hold a Residential Tire Collection Event Friday, May 18 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday, May 19 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.

Under the rules, 12 car and/or light truck tires will be accepted at no cost. For those with more than 12 tires, or those who make more than one trip, fees will be assessed for the additional tires.

Those taking advantage of this opportunity will need to provide proof of in-county residency.

The tire collection will take place at the Authority’s Recycling Center at 15 Landfill Lane, McElhattan.

This collection event is not open to tire dealers, service station operators, repair garages, tire sale outlets or similar facilities. Tires from these facilities are accepted during regular business hours for a nominal fee.

Learn more here, or contact the CCSWA by calling 570-769-6977 (local) or 888-306-8781 (toll-free), or emailing

It’s not uncommon to gather more than 80 tires at a cleanup. Help keep the Pennsylvania Wilds beautiful by keeping old tires out of our landscapes and waterways.
