Recent Events

March 31, 2019: Fishing Creek Streambank & Roadside Cleanup (Clinton County)

On March 31, Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania Football team players and other community members volunteered for the first CleanScapes cleanup of 2019, taking place along the Fishing Creek streambank and roadside!

In just a few hours, 20 volunteers collected 0.59 tons (1,180 pounds) of trash and one tire!

April 13, 2019: City of Williamsport Beautification Cleanup (Lycoming County)

As part of the kickoff for the week-long (April 22-28) Williamsport “Richard James Memorial City Cleanup,” CleanScapes organized two beautification experiences in Williamsport in mid and late April. Phase II included members of the PA Outdoor Corps. (Note: The week-long cleanup was organized by Susquehanna Greenway Partnership, and CleanScapes and Heart of Williamsport were supporting partners.)

The two groups, just 17 volunteers in total, collected 760 pounds of trash! This is just a fraction of what was collected by more than 300 volunteers who came together between April 22-28 to clean up sections of the city.

April 27, 2019: West Branch Susquehanna River Floodplain Cleanup (Clinton County)

Over 50 volunteers came together for an event that will tackled a site along the West Branch Susquehanna River in Wayne Township. This was an opportunity to participate in a floodplain litter and tire removal project, and make a big difference along a stretch of the Bald Eagle Valley Trail (the new rail trail being constructed in phases in Clinton County)!

During this event, 54 volunteers removed 2.25 (4,500 pounds) of trash!

July 27, 2019: Bald Eagle Creek Cleanup (Clinton County)

This was the first stream cleanup of 2019. Volunteers, including scuba divers from Sunken Treasure Scuba Center, went back to Bald Eagle Creek in Bald Eagle Township, Clinton County, to remove tires from the creek bed.

On this cleanup, 28 volunteers collected 92 tires and 1.12 tons (2,225 pounds) of trash!
