Free Lamar Township Clutter and Scrap Collection Event on May 10

On Saturday, May 10, from 9 am to 12 noon, CleanScapes and Lamar Supervisors are hosting a free residential clutter and scrap metal collection event at the Lamar Township municipal building.

For a drop-off time, Lamar residents must register with CleanScapes. A maximum load of items, equal to one standard pickup truck bed load per household, will be accepted.

Items accepted include worn indoor and outdoor furniture, mattresses, non-recyclable plastics, vacuum cleaners, worn tools, and metal items. Items not accepted include food and construction debris, appliances (including air conditioners, microwaves and dehumidifiers), TV’s, paint, oil or other chemicals, pallets, tires and all electronics.

This event is sponsored by Don and Brenda Lysle, Clinton County and Lamar Township governments and the Wayne Township Landfill.

CleanScapes Board Member and Treasurer Colleen-Xethakis-Lacy shared her thoughts, “For the last 3 years, CleanScapes has offered free electronics recycling collection events for Clinton County residents. Those events collected 10,000’s of pounds of electronics and 1,000’s of TV’s. This year we’re trying a new program, a program to give our community members another free event for non-electronic items. We’re starting in Lamar Township, and we hope to offer 2 or more each year. Interested municipalities just need to contact our Project Director Elisabeth Lynch, she’ll explain the program, share with the Board and then we’ll do what we can to help.” Lacy added, “We all have those other items that can’t be donated but start to accumulate in our homes. This is a great opportunity for Lamar residents to hold their own spring cleanup with CleanScapes. We only ask this – if an item can be donated to a local agency or recycled, please consider that first.”

Like their electronic recycling events, municipal staff and CleanScapes volunteers will be on hand to assist the public when they arrive. During the registration period, Lamar residents will be given a drop-off time.

Registrations will be accepted until Fri. 12 noon, May 9 or until 100 cubic yard maximum volume is reached.

To register for a drop-off time, Lamar residents need to contact CleanScapes Project Director Elisabeth Lynch at 570.726.3511 (no text) or clintoncountycleanscapes@yahoo.com.
